Welcome to Our Blog...

Welcome to the Main & Taylor Shoe Blog!  Here you'll be able to keep up with the latest trends, new arrivals in the stores, updated photos, scoops from designers, special events and much more.

Check out our NEW Website!

We love our new website!  Kudos to Tracie at PoshePixels.com for taking all my random thoughts and midnight emails and pulling it all together. Check it out here: www.mainandtaylorshoes.com

Our biggest news is the move of our Raleigh store to North Hills.  After 18 years in Cameron Village we are relocating to the Lassiter side of North Hills at the end of June 2011.  We are taking part of the old Harris Teeter Space and will be next door to Midtown Restaurant.  The store décor will be totally different from our current space (website look is a bit of a preview).  More sophisticated, clean, and modern.  We will have a Stuart Weitzman and Donald J. Pliner shop-in shop.  This means we will have even more styles from these designers including more “fashion” pieces but still maintaining our mix of shoes for everyone. Even though we are moving in the summer…Fall 2011 will truly reflect all the changes.  I will keep you updated with the exact date of the move and events we are planning.

We will continue to send out emails to announce trunk shows, events, and sales.  Please sign up on our mailing list thru the website or when you are in the store to receive those emails.  However, I hope you will also subscribe to our blog.  This is where I will talk about new trends, new lines, arrival of merchandise, and any and all things related to shoes, handbags, & more.  I have a lot of pictures and information I want to share and am really excited about communicating this way.  Please send me your comments and suggestions of things you would like to see or hear about.

Spring 2011 Trends

Neutral hues are once again making a comeback, and women will love this trend since neutral hues are perfect for elongating the legs. To wear this trend is simple… choose colors that range from ivories, nudes, camels, tans and khaki hues. Try this style in flats, wedges, and of course platforms.  Designers across the board have embraced it including Lisa Pliner, Stuart Weitzman, and Kors.

Kitten heels are making a return, spurred on by the trend of '50s and '60s dressing. More comfortable than their higher counterparts, kitten heels can work particularly well when dainty, pointed, and either retro-inspired or minimalist.  Butter has some of the prettiest we’ve found.

It seems that the influence of the 50s, 60s and 70s have all resurfaced at the same time. Retro evolution is the name of the game this coming season in women’s shoes. Added to the 2010 phenomenon of the ever transforming shoe bootie, the mix of footwear this year ranges from low, wedge, high heel to platform. It makes for a fun season of shoe shopping.

The Bucket Bag trend does not die down and JPK has some wonderful new materials and patterns to keep it fresh.  The north/south tote continues to dominate this spring and look for linens, canvas, and cotton to replace leather for more casual styles. The cross-body bag is popping up everywhere and there is no denying this handy trend.  Slouchy, soft hobos are key and we love them in the soft neutrals.
Eric Javits has really stepped up this season with colors and materials and Longchamp brightens it up with their fun hues.

I’ll keep you up updated as new looks become important but as always…count on us for the classic, chic, timeless looks that never go out of style.
